3 Reasons Companies Fail
**Caution some will have their toes stepped on. The opinions expressed are the authors and not necessarily those of IPRO Business Systems except about what a great publishing business software system iPUB is.http://www.ipubtech.com/**
Often when I talk with publishers they say, "We want to be able to do many of the things that larger publishers can do (most of which will help them grow their business) but will have to wait." The term wait is usually defined as a certain period of time in the future that will never come.
There are three main reasons for this:
1.Indecision- In a company indecision is a killer.Companies and leaders that can't make decisions fail or are left behind the rest of the industry. They often reassure themselves by saying things like, "If I don't make a decision nothing changes." This is a true statement but not a successful one.
2.Money- Many companies feel they never have the money to increase efficiency, productivity, innovate, or even do promotion but always have money to waste going the tougher route for years to come using software systems not meant to handle their work or using dated technology. Then there are the predatory module systems that every time you want to do something new you buy another module. Kind of like an ad I heard for a website developer, " Why is it that a company can't afford a website but they can afford a going out of business sign.
3. Fear of change- This is my personal favorite. It is usually not just a fear of what will happen if the company changes what they do but expressed in more of a fear of making the personnel change to a different way of doing things. You would be shocked at the number of times someone has told me that the people using the system that is holding their company back wouldn't like changing therefore they think it is best to stay where their at for now. I call that the waiting for the employees to retire excuse. Hopefully for your sake their close.
If any of this makes you mad know it makes me mad too because I know we can help you through any of these issues.
So who else wants the advantages the large publishers get with six figure software on the budget of a small to midsized publisher? The list is growing so where are you?
